The Technical Team consists of approximately 35 instructors from the western division. Each year these clinicians review the module/certification process to provide the membership with excellence in training and consistency. They also review the selection of education events to meet the needs of our diverse membership.
During the season Tech Team members serve as examiners and clinicians leading Module and Education Events throughout the division. The Technical Team is supervised by the Alpine Committee Vice President, and they also receive several days of coaching each season from members of the PSIA National Demonstration Team.
PSIA-W Technical Team Tryout Details
Each year tryouts are held for the Western Technical Team. Candidates must be Certified Level III members actively working at a snowsport school, and current with education credits. This 1-day event integrates demonstration skills, all mountain technical skiing, and on-snow clinic leading skills. Candidates will be assigned a topic with which they will state a training objective to use while they lead the group, solicit participation, and give feedback to effect changes in understanding or movement patterns in the group.
Successful candidates will join the Technical Team Development Group for 1 year to shadow events and begin giving educational clinics. The following season, members of this Development group will begin serving as Examiners for the Level I Module.
