Your best chance of gaining a spot on the roster is by registering 3-weeks prior to the event.  Rates will increase 2-weeks prior and again at 1-week prior to an event start date.  Space in the event is based on the staff we have available and the capacity of the space/resort.

Course Description:

About This Course

Introduction to PSIA-AASI Snowsports is a five-day series designed to support any PSIA-AASI member who is not currently working in a snowsports school. Mandatory for non-school members; also open to resort-based members seeking foundational training. Days 1 and 2 introduce core PSIA-AASI concepts and begin building the skills and frameworks you will use throughout the series.

What You Will Gain

By the end of Days 1 & 2, you will be able to:

• Describe key PSIA-AASI concepts, frameworks, and resources

• Demonstrate foundational skiing or riding skills in a structured setting

• Apply basic student-centered lesson delivery principles

National Standards This Event Addresses

This event supports preparation for the PSIA-AASI National Certification Standards in the following skill areas. Not all levels listed below may be applicable to every participant -- focus on the level(s) most relevant to your current certification goals.

Professionalism & Self-Management

LI: Maintains a professional environment by demonstrating self-awareness and self-management.

People Skills

LI: Engages in meaningful verbal and non-verbal communication with the group as a whole / Identifies likely motivations and emotions of individuals and understands group dynamics.

Teaching Skills

LI: Plans learning outcomes and organizes progressive learning experiences relevant to beginner/novice students / Implements and adjusts a learning plan.

Technical Skills

LI: Applies the Technical Fundamentals to demonstrate techniques and tactics relevant to beginner/novice terrain.

Who Should Attend

Required for PSIA-AASI members not currently working or volunteering at a snowsports school. Open on a space-available basis to resort-based members seeking foundational training.

This course is excellent preparation for the Level 1 Assessment.

Prerequisites:

• Current PSIA-AASI membership

• Ability to safely ski or ride terrain included in the course

What to Bring

• Appropriate equipment for on-snow activities

• Helmets are mandatory
