Course Description:
About This Assessment
The Alpine Level 1 Assessment evaluates your readiness to demonstrate competency in Level 1 against the PSIA-AASI National Certification Standards. Led by certified PSIA-AASI Western Region examiners, this assessment covers Professionalism & Self-Management, People Skills, Teaching Skills, and Technical Skills as applicable to this level. Passing earns your Level 1 Alpine certification -- the foundation of the PSIA-AASI certification pathway and a prerequisite for specialty credentials including Children's Specialist, Senior Specialist, Freestyle Specialist, and Adaptive certifications.
Who Should Register
This assessment is for Alpine instructors who have completed prerequisite preparation and are ready to demonstrate competency at the Level 1 standard.
Eligibility Requirements:
• Current PSIA-AASI membership
• Completion of the Level 1 E-Learning course (required prior to registering)
• Ability to safely ski all terrain through easy Black Diamond
Recommended Preparation:
• Review the Performance Guide and Certification Standards at thesnowpros.org
• Attend preparatory clinics offered by PSIA-AASI Western Region
What to Bring
• Relevant Performance Guide (available at thesnowpros.org)
• Certification Standards document for your discipline and level
• Appropriate equipment for all terrain included in the assessment
• Helmets are mandatory
How You Will Be Evaluated
