Course Description:

About This Course

Prepping for the Future clinics are end-of-season events designed for members looking ahead to next season's assessments. Whether you plan to test in Snowboard Level 3 Teaching next winter or simply want to finish this season with targeted feedback and a clear development plan, this course gives you structured preparation and expert guidance to carry through the off-season.

What You Will Gain

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

• Assess your current performance relative to the Snowboard Level 3 Teaching national standard

• Identify specific development priorities for the off-season and next season

• Leave with a concrete plan for continued preparation

This clinic is excellent preparation for the Snowboard Level 3 Teaching assessment.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Event Cancellation Policy

If you decide not to attend your event, either online or in person, our standard cancellation policy applies:

Full Refund Period:

Up to three weeks prior to the start date and time of your event, you can transfer your event fee to another event or cancel your registration at no cost.

Partial Refund Period:

Between three weeks and one week prior to the start date and time of your event, you can cancel your event or transfer your event fee to another event for an administrative fee equal to 50% of the cost of your event registration.

Non-Refundable Period:

Less than one week prior to the start date and time of your event, no event transfers are provided, and events are non-refundable. Please note that no refunds will be issued for events once attended. We encourage members to review event details carefully before registering to ensure a satisfactory experience.

Additional Details:

Extenuating circumstances (medical or bereavement) will be considered for a refund if notification is given at the earliest opportunity, and the request is received within one week after the start of the event.

Medical Waiver: Please use the PSIA-AASI Medical Waiver Request Form to request cancellation of your event registration due to injury or illness.

Event Cancellation Refund Policy

If an event is cancelled by the Region, participants will be contacted regarding refund options. Participants will have 30 days from the date of notification to indicate their preferred option (e.g., refund to the original payment method, transfer to another event, or application as a credit toward future events).

If an event location is changed and relocated to a venue within a fifty (50) mile radius of the original location, no refunds shall be issued on the basis of the location change.

If no response is received within the 30-day period, the Region will issue a refund to the original payment method by default.

**We reserve the right to cancel an event at any time due to a lack of registrations, weather conditions, health & safety concerns, or other reasons of any type. If this is the case, all event registration fees will be refunded.

We strongly recommend insurance for your event costs and accommodations in the event of unforeseen circumstances.

PREREQUISITES

2ND LANGUAGE LEARNERS

Skiing and riding are international sports and our industry benefits immensely from instructors with dual-language skills. Currently, The PSIA-AASI assessments do require mastery of highly technical English language and the capacity to support engaging two-way communication. We are exploring appropriate language accommodations in our assessment criteria and exam formatting. In the meantime, dual-language speakers are welcome to bring a translator to any PSIA-AASI Western Exam or Event.

Translators must be able to safely ski or ride alongside the exam or event.

Translators must have their own gear and lift ticket.

Translators may not also be exam candidates or event participants.

You must provide a minimum of two-weeks’ notice if you intend to have a translator support you at an event or exam. Please email the region to discuss bringing a translator to your event.

PSIA-AASI is committed to providing access to those persons with disabilities during the clinic and examination process. An individual with a disability is defined by the ADA as a person who has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities, a person who has a history or record of such an impairment, or a person who is perceived by others as having such an impairment. Various states may have broader definitions.

If you feel you have such a disability and seek a reasonable accommodation during the testing process we need to know this well before the examination so we can work together to create, if possible, the accommodation which will allow you to take the exam under conditions that maintain safety for all involved.

AMERICAN SNOWPORTS EDUCATION ASSOCIATION, INC. dba Professional Ski Instructors of America® ("PSIA") and/or American Association of Snowboard Instructors® ("AASI") and ASEA EDUCATION FOUNDATION dba PSIA-EF and/or AASI-EF ASSUMPTION OF RISK AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY AGREEMENT READ CAREFULLY BEFORE SIGNING “THE UNDERSIGNED” means only the PARTICIPANT when the PARTICIPANT is age 18 or older OR it means both the PARTICIPANT and the PARTICIPANT’s parent or legal guardian when the PARTICIPANT is under the age of 18. I the Undersigned (hereinafter "Participant") understands that skiing and snowboarding in their various forms, as well as preparation for and participation in, classes, clinics, events, races, competitions, instructing, and seminars and any related activities in alpine, nordic, freestyle, and disabled skiing and snowboarding (hereinafter collectively referred to as "Activities''), involve many RISKS, DANGERS and HAZARDS. These risks, dangers and hazards include, but are not limited to: changing weather and snow conditions, variations in steepness or terrain, natural and man-made objects and structures, equipment failure, collisions with objects, structures, or other skiers/riders, instructor’s choices of terrain and drills, and exceeding one's own abilities. I understand that INJURIES OF ALL TYPES ARE A COMMON AND ORDINARY OCCURRENCE OF THE ACTIVITIES. I know and accept that the risk of SEVERE INJURY and even DEATH exists in all Activities. I also know and accept that training, coaching, instruction, and supervision by the American Snowsports Education Association, Inc., PSIA-AASI Northwest Division, PSIA-AASI Western Division, PSIA-AASI Northern Intermountain Division, PSIA-AASI Intermountain Division, PSIA-AASI Northern Rocky Mountain Division, PSIA-AASI Rocky Mountain Division, PSIA-AASI Central Division, PSIA-AASI Eastern Division and all of their affiliated ski and snowboard facility/resort operators, divisions, subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, directors, volunteers, participants, employees, contractors, educational foundations, and agents (hereinafter the term "PSIA- AASI" shall be used to refer to all such persons and entities collectively and individually) does not and cannot guarantee my safety. I FREELY AND VOLUNTARILY ACCEPT AND FULLY ASSUME THE RISK THAT I MAY SUFFER TEMPORARY, PERMANENT OR EVEN FATAL INJURIES, even if I follow the instructions or advice of PSIA-AASI while participating in the Activities. Nevertheless, I, agree to comply with and be bound by the following terms at all times while attending or participating in any PSIA-AASI event or program. 1. Participant hereby unconditionally forever WAIVES AND RELEASES ANY AND ALL CLAIMS OF LEGAL LIABILITY AGAINST PSIA-AASI, AND AGREES TO DEFEND, INDEMNIFY AND HOLD PSIA-AASI HARMLESS FROM ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, present or future, brought by Participant or Participant's heirs, executors, administrators or assigns, FOR ANY LOSS, DAMAGE, EXPENSE, ATTORNEYS FEES, OR ANY INJURY INCLUDING DEATH, suffered by Participant during or related to any Activities in which PSIA-AASI is involved in any way, due to any cause whatsoever, INCLUDING ALL CLAIMS OF NEGLIGENCE, premises liability, and/or breach of express or implied warranty by PSIA-AASI. 2. Participant authorizes PSIA-AASI to obtain medical care for, or to transport Participant to a medical facility or hospital if, in the opinion of PSIA-AASI, medical attention is required and Participant is unable to make such decisions for himself/herself. Participant agrees to pay all costs associated with such medical care and related transportation and shall defend, indemnify and hold PSIA-AASI harmless from the consequences of such decision and from any such costs incurred relating to the provision of medical care. Participant also authorizes disclosure of protected medical information necessary to provide, coordinate or manage Participant's healthcare. 3. This Agreement shall be construed in accordance with, and governed by the substantive laws of the State of Colorado, without reference to principles governing choice or conflicts of laws. In addition, Participant agrees that all lawsuits for personal injury, death or property damage against PSIA-AASI must be brought in the state or federal courts of Colorado. 4. In the event any part of this agreement is found to be unenforceable, the remaining terms shall be given full force and effect to the greatest extent allowed by law. 5. Participant agrees to allow PSIA-AASI, without reservation, limitation or additional compensation, to record in any media his/her name, face, likeness, voice or appearance (collectively “Image”), and to use all or any part of that Image in any known or future media and for all time. HAVING CAREFULLY READ THE FOREGOING AND UNDERSTANDING IT TO BE A LEGALLY BINDING LIABILITY RELEASE AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT, PARTICIPANT SIGNIFIES HIS/HER ASSENT TO THE ABOVE TERMS BY SIGNING BELOW:
