Frequently Asked Questions: 2026 PSIA-AASI Western Region Board of Directors Election
Q1: Why were some candidates disqualified?
A: Following multi-month formal reviews by PSIA-AASI National and Western leadership, certain individuals were found to have violated the National Code of Conduct and Western Region governance policies. To uphold organizational integrity, board members must be in good standing, as defined by our Code of Conduct and governance policies; those who do not meet these standards are ineligible to serve.
Q2: Why aren’t the names of the disqualified individuals being released?
A: In accordance with our established privacy policies and legal best practices, all disciplinary and investigative details are kept strictly confidential. This protects the privacy of the individuals involved and ensures that the organization handles personnel and conduct matters with the highest level of professional decorum.
Q3: Does this mean my vote didn’t count?
A: Every vote cast for eligible candidates in good standing was fully counted and reflected in the final results. As part of the election process, candidate eligibility is confirmed to ensure that only qualified individuals are included in the final ballot and results. Votes associated with ineligible candidates are not included, consistent with standard practices in professional organizations.
Q4: Who conducted these investigations?
A: The reviews were conducted in accordance with National and Western Region established disciplinary and governance procedures, with oversight from both PSIA-AASI National and Western Region leadership. This approach ensures consistent interpretation of the Code of Conduct and that all actions are objective, thorough, and aligned across the organization.
Q5: How were the final four winners determined?
A: The four eligible candidates receiving the highest number of votes were declared the winners. These individuals are: Brent Boblitt, Julie Brown, Neil Bussiere, and Sue Spain.
Q6: When will the new Board be officially active?
A: The transition will take place on April 27, 2026. The newly elected directors will be seated during the annual in-person Board Meeting held at Mammoth Mountain.
Q7: What is being done to prevent this in the future?
A: The Western Region is committed to continuous improvement in our governance model. We are currently reviewing our candidate vetting processes and educational materials regarding the National Code of Conduct to ensure all future participants fully understand the expectations and requirements of leadership within our organization.
Q8: Where can I find the rules governing member conduct?
A: Please refer to the National Code of Conduct, as well as the disciplinary guidelines under P&P Section 14 (Discipline of Members) and Bylaw 4.4, which define “Member in Good Standing.” All PSIA-AASI members acknowledge they will abide by the National Code of Conduct in the National Member Agreement.
Q9: I still have questions, who should I talk to?
A: Please join us online Monday, March 30 for an Open Forum Town Hall meeting. Registration link is available HERE.
