SEASON EVENTS
Like last season, the opening of in-person events will ultimately be based on California’s current event and group gathering guidelines. In order to manage this season’s uncertainty, we are presenting multiple resources to view your education opportunities this season:
COVID SAFETY POLICIES
To keep all our members and staff safe and prevent the spread of Covid-19 we are implementing the following policies for all in-person events. We appreciate your cooperation, the success of our winter season depends on all of us making this a priority:
- DO NOT come to any PSIA-AASI events if you have recently been sick, are feeling sick, or have been in contact with anyone who has recently been sick or tested positive for Covid-19.*
- Masks & Physical Distancing – All participants of PSIA-AASI-W events are required to wear a covid compliant mask and to physically distance themselves during in-person events. In the event that you remove your mask for any reason (such as for eating or drinking), you are required to maintain a minimum six feet physical distance from others.*
- Events will be straight to snow with no indoor meeting permitted. Plan on leaving the gear you don’t need on snow in your vehicle.
- Lunch options will be limited, plan on bringing your own lunch with the option to eat in your vehicle.
- Know before you go! You are responsible for following the resort policies and knowing the County guidelines before you attend.
*Participants who do not follow these policies will be asked to leave the event.
POP-UP EVENTS
During the season we will be offering Western Pop-Up Events which we hope will add something a little exciting and unexpected to the season. These events, announced with shorter notice than our annual calendar of events, will be in a variety of formats & topics including training, education, socials, online, and on-snow. Follow our social pages (Facebook and Instagram) and make sure you move our PSIA-AASI emails into your primary inbox so you don’t risk missing the announcement of our Pop-Up events this season.
NAVIGATING THE SEASON
Safety, fun, and learning make up the core tenets of PSIA-AASI’s vision to “Create Lifelong Adventures Through Education.” Delivering on this critical foundation for successful lessons is more important than ever as we work together to maintain a low-risk learning environment for ourselves, our guests, and our colleagues—helping to ensure a healthy snowsports season for everyone this winter. –Nicholas Herrin, PSIA-AASI CEO
Member Policy
For the safety of our members and staff, we have made the following changes for COVID-19 prevention and protection:
Please DO NOT attend an in-person event if you:
- Have a respiratory condition
- Have a fever
- Have a cough
- Are experiencing shortness of breath
As cases are being reported in the western United States and specifically California and Nevada, this information is intended to keep our community informed. PSIA-AASI Western is working closely with county, state and federal public health agencies to make stay prepared and informed about the COVID-19 virus.
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) believes that the risk of acquiring the COVID-19 virus is low, and with flu season in full swing, it’s important to understand the risks and symptoms, and when to see a medical provider.
Signs and Symptoms
Signs and symptoms of infection with COVID-19 (coronavirus) may appear two to 14 days after exposure and can include fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing. Risk factors for infection with the new coronavirus appear to include:
Close contact with someone who has the coronavirus — such as when a family member or friend
People who are older or who have other existing medical conditions, such as diabetes and heart disease, may be at higher risk of becoming seriously ill with the new coronavirus. But there is still much unknown about the virus, and the Centers for Disease Control and World Health Organization continue to investigate.
When to see a Medical Provider
Contact your primary care medical provider right away if you have symptoms of COVID-19 (coronavirus) or if there’s a possibility you’ve been exposed to the virus. Tell your medical provider if you’ve recently traveled internationally. Be sure to call ahead to inform your provider about your symptoms, recent travels and possible exposure before you go to your appointment.
Prevention and Protection
Protection and prevention against the COVID-19 (coronavirus) is much like preventing transmission of the seasonal flu.
Stay home from work, school and public areas if you are sick, except to get medical care
Avoid close contact with anyone who is sick
Cover your cough, or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue away in the trash
Avoid touching your eyes, ears, nose and mouth
Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
Avoid sharing dishes, glasses, bedding and other household items if you’re sick
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
