A Message to Our Members: Building the Future of the West
Dear Western Region Members,
As the winter season approaches, your Board of Directors is thrilled to share an update on the organizational momentum building across the Western Region. Following an energizing, in-person spring meeting at Mammoth and our subsequent summer working sessions, the board has been deeply focused on forward-looking strategy and long-term financial stability to serve you better.
Thanks to strong management, dedicated committee leadership, and your unwavering commitment, our region is positioned for an exceptional winter ahead. We have an outstanding slate of over 300 planned events for this upcoming season, offering a wide range of clinics, exam preps and certifications, all in response to what our members have asked for. The calendar is already up – please sign up!
Here are the concrete milestones from our recent sessions that demonstrate the strength of our community:
- Exceptional Fiscal Vitality: Our financial health is robust and positive. Driven by an impressive $756k in total income—including $341k in steady operational income and $37k from expanded grants—we achieved a strong net income of $88k. Furthermore, our long-term stability is anchored by a thriving investment account holding $502k.
- Healthy Member Renewal Tracking: Our community’s dedication continues to outpace expectations. Member renewals have officially reached 2,325 active members. While this tracks slightly behind last year’s absolute pace, it stands at a remarkable 10% ahead of our projected and budgeted renewal milestones for this point in the season.
- Industry-Leading Member Support: We recognize that professional development requires real investment. To support our community, we are proud to remind you that Western remains the only region in the nation to offer a dedicated Financial Aid program to assist with the cost of dues. Applications are open right now, and awards remain available through Jan 15, 2027.
- High-Impact Winter Programming: We generated an outstanding $453k in event income last season, fueled by a massive surge in Snowboard, Children’s, Freestyle, and Member School Training, without raising event prices. Rigorous oversight successfully reduced event expenses to $311k. Our upcoming master winter calendar is already live with over 300 events scheduled, built sooner than ever to help you plan your season and elevate your professional journey. It includes a wide range of programming, informed by member requests.
We are also thrilled to invite you to connect with us face-to-face at our upcoming Fall Rally on Sun, Oct 18, at the North Tahoe Events Center, where the board will host dedicated presentations and small-group roundtable sessions.
Thank you for your dedication to the Western identity of innovation. We cannot wait to look ahead, share the mountain experience, and see you out on the snow very soon. Get ready for an unforgettable winter season!
Warmly,
The PSIA-AASI Western Region Board of Directors
