A New Chapter for PSIA-AASI West: A Message from Lynnea Anderson

Dear West Members,

I’m writing to share a leadership change at PSIA-AASI West. Marisa Cooper is stepping down as CEO. Effective today, I am taking on the role of Managing Director, which replaces the CEO position. Having been part of this organization for more than two decades, I know firsthand the dedication, professionalism, and passion that make our region special. I am honored by this opportunity and look forward to what we can accomplish together.

I want to thank Marisa for her years of service and contributions to West. I appreciate her dedication to our organization and its members, and I wish her well in all that comes next. You can read the Board of Directors’ announcement and Marisa’s message to members on our website: Board announcement | Marisa’s message.

Many of you know me. For those who do not, I grew up at Badger Pass in Yosemite National Park, where my parents were ski instructors. I earned my Alpine Level 3 in 1999, later added Snowboard Level 1 and Children’s Specialist 2, and have served on Ed Staff since 2004.

I began working with the admin team under Mitch Dion in the mid-2000s. Later, as interim Director of Operations, I ran every aspect of the organization with the support of our staff and dedicated volunteers. I have served as Deputy Director since 2021, leading our Ed Staff and supporting our education and certification programs. Working at small and large schools, from Tahoe to Australia, has shown me our profession from many angles. Throughout, I’ve valued the long-standing relationships I’ve built with our members, resorts, volunteers, and Ed Staff, who are the foundation of our work.

Last season, our team organized a record 347 events, expanding opportunities to support members at every stage. For the first time, we also scheduled an event at every member school resort. I am proud of the 1,694 hours of Ed Staff training, the most of any region nationally. That work, along with a strong team, means West will keep moving forward on steady footing.

This season is underway, with 347 events scheduled across our region, matching last season’s record, and early-season registration is strong. We’re also offering new professional development opportunities, including our Professional Skills Resources, Mock Assessments, Fast Track Sessions, Leadership Training, and Trainer Development programs. Our financial aid program also remains available to support members.

I’d love to hear from you. Questions and ideas are always welcome at landerson@thesnowpros.org.

Most of all, I’m excited to support each of you on your individual journey and to help our industry thrive. I look forward to seeing you on snow this winter.

Lynnea Anderson
Managing Director, PSIA-AASI West
